REMEMBERING THE GOLDEN YEARS OF RADIO IN CONNECTICUT
On
Monday August 31, 2009 at 7 PM Radio-TV veteran Bill Hennessey, former
Channel 30 news anchor and WTIC staffer talked about his
recollections of the “Golden Years of Radio” in the Great Room of
the Paradise Pizza Restaurant in New Britain.
The public and broadcast people were invited to come & add their "two cents". Emcee was TV personality Steve Parker.
Bill
Hennessey, formerly the “Ambassador of the CT Lottery” is more
recently known as the “Voice of the Crowley Auto Group”.
He
spoke of the years when Ben Hawthorne, Bob Steele, Bob Ellsworth,
Sereno Gammell, Joe Girand, Ivor Hugh, Dick Bertel, Arnold Dean, Mitch
Betters, Una King, Charlie Parker and other talented stars shone
brightly on CT's TV & radio airways.
The audience was invited to add their "two cents "and ask questions.
This program was part of an ongoing regular monthly
open-to-the-public series of free admission events presented by
the Newington Kiwanis Club and was taped for broadcast on Newington
Cable and for archiving, as well as for the Alumni Site.
